The Florida murder of a Miami-Dade mother remains unsolved

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – Katherine Guerrero, also known as Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas, immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic about five years ago.

The 31-year-old mother’s life as an American Citizen was short and detectives were trying to figure out why she was killed just four days before her 32nd birthday.

“This was not just a random incident,” Seminole County Sheriff Dennis M. Lemma said during a news conference on Friday.

Guerrero, who had no criminal record in the United States, drove the car white 2017 Dodge Durango from southernmost Miami-Dade County to Seminole County on Thursday and disappeared.

Important note: A witness recorded video of the carjacking at East Lake Drive and Tuskawilla Road. A short time later, witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing smoke in Osceola County.

Lemma said firefighters found him dead in a burning 2017 Dodge Durango at a construction site.

“The criminals knew who they were after,” Lemma said.

A witness video shows a masked man with a gun getting out of the Acura, threatening him at gunpoint, jumping into the back of a Dodge Durango and “For sale 786-352-0437” sign — as the Acura driver continued to follow them.

Records show the phone number on a public display on the back window of a Dodge Durango is associated with Miguel Angel Aguasvivas Lizardo, of Florida City.

Before the kidnapping, she allegedly called her husband and told him that the driver of a green Acura car followed her and hit the rear bumper of the Durango.

He told deputies he asked him not to stop anywhere. There was a red light.

“We feel that the residents of A green Acura … he knew exactly who they were following,” Lemma said.

Lemma asked the public to help them get it A green Acura. She said she does not understand why her husband, who has been “supportive” and has no criminal record in the United States, chose not to call 911 to report that his wife was in danger.

Lemma also said her husband said he was visiting family, but they could not contact anyone he had a relationship with in the area.

“We don’t really know where he was going,” Lemma said.
