published on March 24

Dismissed from the catalog in 2019, the convertible version of the sporty GranTurismo from Maserati is being updated in a second generation that will have the specialty of being available in an electric system. Don’t worry, the bad petrol blocks are still there!

When it hit the market in 2010, the Maserati GranCabrio doubled down on the GranTurismo that year by adding a convertible version, still focused on performance. 9 years later, Maserati took it off the list, just like its twin sister, while waiting for better days where their successors would come and give them spiritual descendants. They arrived very late, because Maserati had other plans in mind: new supercar MC20 (2020), Grecale SUV (2022) and the MC20 Cielo convertible sports car (2022). Lots of new products from the trident brand! We finally had to wait until 2023 before we saw the arrival of the new generation of GranTurismo. A detectable version was not far…

GranCabrio: a luxury sports car for outdoor trips

Drum circle… That’s it! This new Maserati GranCabrio is very close to the GranTurismo, which shares dimensions, styling and engine. ! Maserati claims that the space in the rear seats is saved, as is the volume of the trunk due to the adoption of a canvas top. What to carry four adults with their luggage in peace, and what’s more, with their hair blowing in the wind! For its launch, only one version is offered, the Trofeo, which leads the range.

550 horsepower V6!

It replaces the old generation V8 with the new Nettuno 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine producing 550 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. It is enough to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.6 seconds, and reach 316 km / h at the top! Later, Modena versions will arrive, and the power will decrease to 490 horses. then the 100% electric version of Folgore (“Electricity” in Italian), is already available on the MC20/MC20 Cielo, on the GranTurismo and also on the Grecale.

The Maserati range is about to be renewed

Maserati has added new products in recent years, to almost renew its old age range. All that remains is Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans passing the pool table : also offered in petrol and electric variants, they will reach the market only in 2028, following a postponement of … 3 years!

Thank you Stellantis

Well, let’s wait watch this historic brand rise from its asheswhich might not have been possible if PSA and Fiat-Chrysler (which owns Maserati) had not merged in 2021 and start a new Stellantis group…
