Not enough space in your CX-60? The large Mazda CX-80 offers a solution

Mazda has waited two years, but now it’s launching an extended version of the CX-60. The new Mazda CX-80 is no longer less than 25 centimeters and offers space for seven passengers.

For the CX-60 dates from 2022 and is only offered as a plug-in combination in the Netherlands. In other markets, Mazda also has six cylinders in the price list, petrol and diesel.

Mazda CX-80 as a plug-in hybrid

The Mazda CX-80 will also only come to our country as a plug-in hybrid. It is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor, which together produce 327 hp and 500 Nm.

According to Mazda, the CX-80 will reach 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds. On its 17.8 kWh battery it has an electric range of 53 km.

The platform on which the Mazda CX-80 stands is primarily rear-wheel drive, although the PHEV does have four-wheel drive. Of course, there is no need to change gears, the eight-speed automatic transmission does it for the driver.

The CX-80 is no lightweight. It weighs 2,230 kg and can tow a large trailer: 2,500 kg. Its powertrain has five modes: Normal, Sport, Offroad, Towing and EV.

A wheel of more than 3 meters

As we wrote in the introduction, the CX-80 is 25 centimeters longer than the CX-60. It is 5 meters long and has a wheelbase of 3.1 meters.

Three interior configurations are available: with a back seat (CX-80 is seven seats), with separate seats and a console in the middle in the second row (six seats) or separate seats without a console.

Interior with lots of space

The rear seat in the Mazda CX-80 can be moved by a distance of 12 cm. That is not possible in the CX-60. The third row of seats will fit passengers up to 1.70 meters tall, Mazda said.

There is 258 liters of luggage space in the trunk. With the third row of seats flat, there is a space of 687 liters and with the second row of seats folded, there is even 2000 liters available. The loading floor is more than 2 meters long.

Real chrome and wood

Not only the exterior of the CX-80 is beautiful, but also the interior, with real chrome, maple wood and nappa leather. There are five levels of reduction: Exclusive line, Takumi, Homura, Takumi Plus and Homura Plus.

Standard at all times are three-zone air conditioning, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, Alexa voice control, cruise control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a head-up display, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

Driver Personalization System

The so-called Driver Personalization System uses a camera to determine the driver’s eye position and height and automatically adjusts the position of the steering wheel, seats, mirrors and head-up display accordingly. The camera also recognizes faces and can therefore adjust the car according to each person’s preferences.

The price of the Mazda CX-80 is unknown

The Mazda CX-80 comes standard with 20-inch alloy wheels. Two new colors are available for the model: Artisan Red and Melting Copper. Pricing for the CX-80 has yet to be announced. Mazda is asking 56,690 euros for the CX-60.
