The Polestar 2 will be replaced by the Polestar 7

Polestar introduced the selection based on launch sequence and no longer based on position in the lineup. Logically, the Polestar 2 will therefore not be replaced by the new 2. But there will be much more than a simple name change.

Polestar was one of the first manufacturers to choose to name its cars again according to the series, but according to their launch date. So Polestar 2 was the second model after the short-lived coupe 1. And the manufacturer does not change its strategy, while others have already given up. So, after the recent Polestar 3 and 4, we eagerly await the Polestar 5 large sedan, then the Polestar 6 coupe/convertible, preceded by the 02 concept.

And after 6 logically comes 7. This new model expected in 2027 will therefore not be at the top of the Polestar range. On the contrary, it will form its predecessor, since it will replace the Polestar 2, each name being used for only one generation. For Thomas Ingenlath, head of the brand, this allows us to free ourselves from the strict system of changing products and new evolutions of the same products. He also takes a classic example, that of the Golf, which was replaced by another Golf 50 years ago.

Therefore, the Polestar 7 will not take the same concept of a mid-range sedan as the current Polestar 2. An SUV, a real lower sedan, a station wagon, a combination of all that… This new model will probably take the new GPA platform . of the Geely group which is expected to start this year. It will also be used by Volvo to replace the EX40 and EC40.
