This is the ultimate Dodge Challenger

These are dark times for fans of cool American coupes. While the Ford Mustang is still racing boldly, the curtain has already fallen on the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger.

Both types must make way for a modern, full electric replacement. That news came true at the Stellantis factory in Brampton, Canada, when the very last Challenger was assembled.

The last of its kind is also the most interesting. It is Demon 170 thick in matching color Black Color. With a supercharged 6.2 hp 1,025 liter HEMI V8 under the hood, this model represents the absolute pinnacle of the model line.

The Challenger appeared in 2006 as an elegantly designed, yet highly efficient car. Two years later, the model went into production almost unchanged as a competitor to the recently revived Mustang and Camaro. With an LX chassis derived from the Mercedes range of the ’90s, the Challenger eventually remained in production for at least fifteen years. During that time, all sorts of special models appeared, from the ‘basic’ SRT/8 to the extreme Hellcat, Demon and Super Stock.

The competitor will not have a direct successor. At the direction of Stellantis, Dodge will start a brand new line with electric ‘e-muscle cars’ in 2024. With the Daytona Charger SRT concept, the brand has already made a prediction of a fully electric future. A model with a combustion engine is still possible, but it will have to do without HEMI. The popular eight-cylinder has been replaced by a three-liter Hurricane turbo inline six.
