3 delicious traditional Dutch twists for King’s Day

During King’s Day, April 27, the question is always whether the sun is high in the sky or whether you should go with an umbrella. The Dutch fountain is currently going round. If you time it right, you can go out with your traditional Dutch changer this weekend!

We don’t have many car brands in the Netherlands, although of course there are some famous ones. So Autovisie finds three beautiful Dutch-made homeless cars.

Three traditional Dutch twists for King’s Day

Because the weather on King’s Day can change suddenly, the roof can be closed on all these switches. But you prefer not to. Turn on the ignition and start driving!

1. Spyker C8 Spyder

The Spyker C8 Spyder is perhaps one of the most popular classic Dutch convertibles among enthusiasts and is perfect for King’s Day. The car was assembled in Zeewolde and the beautiful design comes from Maarten de Bruijn.

The drivetrain comes from Audi and has eight cylinders. The stroke capacity of the engine block is 4.0 or 4.2 liters. Power ranges from 406 to 629 hp. Thanks to its attractive design and – given – orange color, the Spyker C8 will certainly make you look your best during King’s Day. Especially if you also choose the interior in the same shade.

2. Donkervoort D8 GTO Individual Series

Donkervoort is a traditional Dutch car brand that makes cars – the homeless ones – that must be as clean as possible. So the Lelystad manufacturer has as few electronic devices as possible such as ESP and electric steering on board. This also saves the required weight.

There is a Donkervoort D8 GTO Individual Series. The car weighs only 700 kg and has 435 hp and 570 Nm with a powerful 2.5-liter five-cylinder from Audi on board. Due to its low weight and high power, the traditional Dutch convertible runs from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.6 seconds. Autovisie went into the Donkervoort D8 GTO Individual Series price list and calculated the car’s cost in this article.

3. Daf YA-66

Donkervoort and Spyker are only for a few enthusiasts. If you want to drive a classic Dutch convertible this King’s Day, but don’t have a huge budget, you can opt for the Daf YA-66 Cabriolet.

The car has a four-cylinder Renault under the hood with a volume of 1108 cc. The power source produces 53 hp and reaches a maximum speed of 115 km per hour.

The Daf YA-66 was used by the army and the Royal Military Police. However, the DAF is not a truly capable military vehicle. The standard Dutch convertible doesn’t have four-wheel drive, doesn’t have impressive ground clearance and is therefore not a true off-road vehicle. However, it’s a nice, affordable car that’s perfect for King’s Day. It offers an experience comparable to, for example, Mehari, and is also very rare with only about 1200 units produced.
