Like other car manufacturers, electric car Start it Lordstown Motors recently had to change its future schedule to adapt to the situation caused by the spread of the coronavirus and the outbreak of COVID-19. Inside of recent announcementLordstown said it now plans to begin shipping its Endurance electric pickup truck in January 2021 instead of December 2020. Lordstown is still planning the plant to accommodate the building. a new carand Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Steve Burns recently recounted a tour through the facility.

Lordstown Motors is located in Lordstown, Ohio, and its headquarters are in the former General Motors (GM) the manufacturing plan that produced it is now defunct Chevrolet Cruze sedan in previous life. The 6.2 million square foot plant opened in 1966 and produced more than 16 million vehicles during its time as a GM operation. Lordstown Motors takes advantage of pre-existing materials and configurations rather than building something from the ground up.

“It’s a gem of a building,” Burns says in the opening of the video. “The plant itself has a lot of potential. It’s very modern, even though it’s 53 years old.”

It may be modern, but it still needs many hours of work to turn it into a facility capable of producing electric vehicles.

“If we had built this from scratch, it wouldn’t have been possible,” Burns added. “They’re not going to build buildings like this anymore. We’re taking it over, reconfiguring it for our purposes, and we’re very pleased with the facilities here and the resources we’ve been able to get. Making a car is no small thing. It takes a lot of automation and a lot of people, and this plant has been great for us.

The video starts at the tread press, which takes the metal coming in through the back of the building. The tour is then moved to the robotics branch that assembles the blanks into the shape of the car. Then it goes through the painting process, and then to the collection. At the moment, the tour doesn’t show any places or people, so it requires some imagination, but it gives a general view of how things work.
