Volkswagen Golf, restyling production begins in Wolfsburg

Volkswagen it started Golf repair manufacturing. Indeed, at the Wolfsburg factory construction of a new model has begun. The start of production of the updated version of the eighth generation of the Golf comes a few days after the anniversary of an important anniversary, which is the 50th anniversary of this model.

Since 1974, Volkswagen’s main factory in Wolfsburg has been in a sense the “soul” of Golf production in the world. Of the more than 37 million examples of this car sold to date, more than half, an average of 400,000 units per year, were built in this plant.

In recent days, the Wolfsburg plant also celebrated another milestone. Just a few days before the new production Golf, the factory celebrated the 48 millionth car rolling off the assembly line. According to Volkswagen, no other car factory in the world has built as many cars as the Wolfsburg plant.

The Golf’s first redesign introduced some design innovations. The biggest change is at the front where the car maker has re-touched the bumper and integrated new LED lights, thinner than the part that goes inside. IQ.LIGHT LED Matrix lights are also available as an option.

As for the passenger compartment, Volkswagen has provided a new infotainment system that can be based on a 12.9-inch touch screen with a new interface designed for ease of use. Additionally, the voice assistant can also rely on ChatGPT to provide passengers with better interaction.

For now, engines are available in Italy 1.5 TSI turbo petrol engine with 85 kW (115 HP) and 110 kW (150 HP) with 6-speed manual gearbox and two 48 V 1.5 eTSI turbo mild petrol engine with 7-speed DSG gearbox with output equal power. Added to these is the turbodiesel 2.0 TDI SCR in two power levels: 85 kW (115 HP) with a 6-speed gearbox and 110 kW (150 HP) with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Plugin designs will arrive in the next few months.
