West Iredell Warriors vs. East Lincoln Mustangs

West Iredell couldn’t get out of a slump on Tuesday as the team suffered its fourth straight loss. They suffered a crushing 11-1 loss at the hands of the East Lincoln Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder for West Iredell of the 9-0 loss they suffered in the pair’s previous meeting in April 2023.

West Iredell saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Talen Caton, who went 1-for-1 with an RBI. Caton has been reliable on the mound: he hasn’t given up more than two hits in three straight games.

For East Lincoln, Barrett Erwin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it’s clear why: he surrendered just one earned run on four hits and had nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Trey Spees, who went 3-for-4 with a triple, two doubles, and two RBIs. The team also got help courtesy of Brody Hager, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.

The loss to West Iredell dropped their record to 4-8. For East Lincoln, the win was their seventh in a row, making their record this year 13-3.

West Iredell will be playing at home against Hickory at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Hickory comes into the game with three straight road wins, so West Iredell will have to stop a fast team. As for East Lincoln, they will play against East Rutherford at 6:45 pm on Wednesday. Both teams will go into the match having posted big wins, so one is in for a huge reversal of fortune.
