Beijing 2024: Nissan unveils several concepts

Makoto Uchida, President and CEO of Nissan, said: “To achieve sustainable growth in the rapidly developing Chinese market, Nissan is committed to a special strategy for China, as we announced in our new plan.” Starting with the electric vehicles based on the concept revealed today, Nissan will create a balanced product portfolio of new and competitive models. Our goal will be to provide the most exciting mobility experience to all customers in China. »

The four concepts are two SUVs and two sedans. The SUV and sedan are 100% electric, while the other two are plug-in hybrids. There is the Nissan Epoch, Nissan Epic, Nissan Era and Nissan Evo.

The Nissan Epoch Concept is an all-electric sedan that Nissan envisions for urban and suburban customers. Aesthetically, it uses Nissan’s signature headlights, but like most electric sedans, it sports a “pebble” with smooth surfaces. The roof is a beautiful curve that goes to the end of the trunk. The rear signature is marked by thick lines crossing the rear surface, with “wire” lights integrated perfectly into the bodywork. The concept has “normal” mirrors and can easily go into production. It’s the only concept we don’t have the inside of.

The Nissan Epic concept is also an all-electric SUV that Nissan envisions once again for urban and suburban dwellers. It has free driving in the city and on the highway. It is compatible with V2X and therefore can be used as a “battery on wheels”. For this concept, Nissan uses all the design “gimmicks” of current SUVs with very shoulder covers, marked wheel arches and black parts, but also a rear pillar that sets with a black roof. The front signature is a suggested grid with smooth vertical lines. We find these lines in the back, but also in the drawing on the back pillar. As for the interior, it is very simple with a large furniture-style dashboard and three installed screens (one for the instruments, and two for infotainment.

In terms of PHEVs, the Nissan Era Concept is an SUV, also for the city (?) but which it would focus on “Young professionals see their car as their second home”. Here, the engine is entrusted with the e-4ORCE (i-force) system and the SUV is equipped with pneumatic suspension.

As for the Nissan Evo Concept, it is a PHEV (plug-in hybrid) sedan. There, Nissan sees it as “perfect for getting away from it all at the weekend and creating special moments for the whole family”. It’s interesting because it’s usually a family-oriented SUV. Best!

Our opinion, for leblogauto.com

These cars are designed for China, which seems to be regaining interest for manufacturers. “Traditional concept” has started to be used again in the Beijing exhibition, with electric or electronic products, designed specifically for the country and not modified or similar to European cars.

On the other hand, in terms of style, we can find that these proposals are similar to many others, except for the light signature. Sorry for the balance.
