A dog from an animal shelter is looking for a home
The largest animal shelter in Europe is in Berlin: around 1,300 animals are kept there, including dogs and cats, birds, small animals and farm animals. However, a real house cannot replace that. But maybe you have a free spot, for example for a Lexus dog?
Too many animals are abandoned every day, often in a state of neglect, that is the sad truth. How nice that they can find a temporary home in many animal shelters, where they can be cared for and healed. That’s great!
But that doesn’t work for long. “Animal shelters can only be a temporary solution for animals, never a real home,” as the Berlin animal shelter says. Maybe you would like to give one of the many creatures a chance and provide a loving environment? We deliver once or sometimes several times a week. Today: Lexus the dog is looking for a new home.
Lexus is a Central Asian Ovcharka – the breed is also known as the Central Asian Shepherd Dog, Alabai or Alabay. On the website owtscharka.net you can read that herd guard dogs act independently and responsibly, accept their families unconditionally, but are suspicious of strangers. They are considered calm and balanced, but they also have a great desire to move.
Back to Lexus: The cute dog was given to an animal shelter by his owner for health reasons. In his old house he lived quietly with a parrot – Lexus allows himself to be walked by other dogs. If in doubt, it still needs to be tested if a strong male is suitable as a second dog.
Owtscharka is house trained, knows basic commands and rides calmly. However, he is still a bit stormy and rude, especially his ability to walk on a leash still needs work. Lexus is very sweet and friendly to people, he likes to look funny and silly: it’s no wonder that almost everyone has his finger tied …
For Lexus, a family with dog experience that would, of course, be familiar with a livestock guard dog would be great. The male dog was able to stay alone for up to five hours in his old home – his guardians are quite sure that Lexus will do well in his new home after some time to get used to it and some training. A house with a garden where he can let off steam and fulfill his instincts as a guard dog would be urgently needed.
Lexus is very people-oriented – as already mentioned, it gets along well with people, be it men, women or children. Interested parties still have to arrange several visits. Children living in the household should be calm and at least 12 years old, because the Lexus has a lot of power – so new people, including adults, must be able to hold it.
