The new Dacia Duster is about to make its debut with a showroom debut. The brand continues the saga of its cult bestseller. The new Duster means modern design and better performance thanks to the CMF-B platform. It also means a more durable body and a more assertive design. Duster is a true success story of a model that has won more than 40 awards in its 13-year career and has produced more than 2.4 million units. With sales increasing steadily, by 2022 the Duster was the best-selling SUV in Europe, across all segments, in the private car market. Around 1,000 Dusters roll off the production lines every day at the Dacia factory in Pitesti, Romania – that’s about one car per minute!

The flexible CMF-B platform

The new Duster uses the CMF-B platform, which is at the heart of Dacia’s industrial strategy. Introduced in the latest Sandero and Logan models and later adopted in the Jogger, this competitive and highly flexible platform gives the brand greater flexibility and enables it to execute its ambitious product plan in a more economically and industrially efficient manner.

The use of the CMF-B platform in the new Duster means it offers more interior space than the previous generation, for passengers and cargo, while retaining the same overall length of 4.34 metres.

In turn, by increasing the stiffness of the components, the car achieves a significant reduction in body roll (by 21% in the 4 × 2 version), which translates into greater stability during cornering and changing direction. The 4×4 version also benefits from this development, with a 17% increase in versatility. The increased stiffness of the rear axle is compensated for off-road driving by a completely new electronic management system.

Dirt settings, power steering ratios and rules, and tire adjustments have also changed. They have been modified to provide a more accurate response under various usage conditions. Surrounding noise was reduced by an average of -2 dB, significantly reducing overall noise levels inside the vehicle and providing passengers with a more pleasant driving experience. (-3db = 2 times less noise!)

The CMF-B platform, in turn, puts the new Duster on the path to the use of hybrid engines: mild hybrid and full hybrid.
