OFL to hold an emergency protest at Doug Ford’s office to protest the keffiyeh ban

TORONTO, April 26, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Ontario Federation of Labor (OFL) will hold an emergency meeting on Friday, April 26 at 5:30 pm at Doug Ford’s Provincial Office in Etobicoke, to protest the ongoing keffiyeh ban. in Queen’s Park and asked Ford MPs and Conservative MPs to take action to change it.

“Targeting a traditional society like this, in 2024, is reckless,” OFL President Laura Walton said. “As labor leaders, we will not stand up. If Ford does not end this racist ban, we will defy it.

The meeting will include labor and community leaders from across the GTA, as well as community members who have been denied access to legal buildings in Queen’s Park due to the ban.

The meeting will be organized by Ahmad Gaied, Secretary-Treasurer of OFL.

“It’s a shame that members of the Arab-Canadian community were denied entry to legislative buildings this week – simply because they were expressing their identity as Palestinians,” said Gaied. “An attack on my community is an attack all of them Ontario communities, and we condemn it.
