Audi would keep its eyes on Gasly and Ocon

Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon are both in talks with Audi to leave the Alpine team.

Bruno Famin is likely to see one of his two current drivers leave the Alpine team at the end of the 2024 F1 season.

This poor start to the French team’s campaign and recent rumors of a possible sale of the team by the Renault group could lead to the departure of at least one of the two current starting drivers, Pierre Gasly or Esteban Ocon.

The Gazette dello Sportwhich is the authority in Formula 1, reports that Audi has started talks with the two French drivers, who are also at the end of their contracts with Alpine.

Acquiring the services of Gasly or Ocon will be a priority for the management of Audi, led by Andreas Seidl, after the decision – if confirmed – of Carlos Sainz to commit to the Mercedes team for the 2025 F1 season and the following.

The Spaniard was until now Seidl’s first choice to lead the Audi F1 project. The famous German car manufacturer, which has just bought 100% of the shares in the Sauber team, will officially enter the Formula 1 world championship in 2026.

Audi has already allocated its second wheel to German Nico Hülkenberg, who is expected to leave the Haas team at the end of the 2024 season.
