More and more Chinese car manufacturers are entering the European car market. During 2023 it will be Chery’s turn which, as we have seen in the past, has chosen Italy as one of the first countries of the Old Continent that will launch its cars. Specifically, it will initiate OMODA 5 electric SUV. The automaker has now released additional specifications of the battery-powered vehicle. No pricing details yet.

DESIGN AND INTERIOR AFFAIRS

Chery is known in Italy for its partnership with DR Automobiles. Now, the Chinese manufacturer has decided to be the first in our country with a variety of new electric cars. So we will start from OMODA 5, SUV Length 4.4 meters, width 1.83 and height 1.59, with a wheelbase of 2.63 meters. To develop this car, the Chinese brand followed a design philosophy called “Art in motion”.

The SUV has streamlined lines and a front end with a generously-sized grille that will obviously be closed due to the absence of an internal combustion engine. As for the interior, a large cantilevered section stands in the middle of the dashboard which includes two displays: one behind the steering wheel is dedicated to the instruments, while the central one, equipped with touch technology, is reserved for the infotainment system. .

The car has voice assistant equipped with Cerence ASR technology that can carry out many commands that the driver only needs to command with his voice. You can control the radio, climate control, media player and more. On the OMODA 5 it is also possible to manage the remote climate control, to enter the car and already get the desired temperature inside.

ENGINE AND SAFETY

As for the electric train, the Chinese manufacturer limited itself by saying that there is an electric motor compatible with permanent magnets installed in the front that creates power of 150 kW (204 hp). It takes 7.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. It is all powered by a 64 kWh battery that allows distance up to 450 km.

Regarding ADAS systems, Chery says that the SUV can rely on 16 driving assistance devices. For example, we get blind spot monitoring, hazard warning recall, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, continuous lane maintenance and adaptive cruise control.

Chery has decided to cover the OMODA 5 with a warranty of 5 years or 150,000 km and provide additional coverage on the battery and other parts that make up the power train.
