Toyota is throwing the world’s fastest hybrid car into the shredder

The Prius in question was at the Toyota Museum in Texas, USA. The brand had set a speed record with this article. On the salt flats in Utah, the green-white Prius achieved a top speed of 130.794 miles per hour, which is more than 210 kilometers per hour. According to Toyota, this made it the fastest hybrid car in the world.

The measured speed is incredible, because according to the factory specifications, the Toyota Prius of that time cannot exceed 170 km / h. Toyota technicians were able to increase this number through several modifications. As you can see, the body is close to the road, the exterior mirrors are missing and the car has closed wheel covers. All for the best improvement. And with a Cd value of 0.26, it wasn’t that bad.

To save weight, almost the entire interior was removed. The security guard was replaced. In addition, the gear ratio of the transmission was adjusted and the electric motor was better cooled.

So it’s not just the first Toyota Prius. And yet, according to a website about classic Japanese cars, it is about to be cut. A Toyota hybrid car was spotted by an alert visitor at a car dump near the American city of Dallas. There is no doubt that this is what was once the fastest hybrid car in the world.

The Toyota Prius isn’t the only model that America’s Toyota museum is setting aside. There is also a gold Toyota Cressida at the car dump site that looks suspiciously similar to the 1978 Cressida that was previously on display at the museum.
