Ryder signs up first two customers for its electric vehicle consulting package

Transportation and fleet management solutions provider Ryder System Inc. has signed its first two customers to multi-year electric vehicle (EV) contracts, the Miami company said today.

Both customers will lease more light-duty electric freight wagons as they begin using EVs in their fleets and support their ongoing equipment needs. The customers are Pompano Beach, Fla.-based Land ‘N’ Sea Distributing, the nation’s largest distributor of marine and recreational vehicle parts, and Servientrega International Inc., a Bogota, Colombia-based package delivery company with operations in Miami .

Ryder provides services through it RyderElectric+ Package, a turnkey fleet solution that provides automotive electrical consultants, vehicles, chargers, telematics, and maintenance from a single point of contact. Under those contracts, the RyderElectric+ team relied on data analysis, site ratings, range and load requirements, and other factors to select the best and most cost-effective vehicle for both customers’ operations.

As a long-time Ryder customer, Land ‘N’ Sea is the first to lease the BrightDrop Zevo 600 and Ford E-Transit. To support its EV expansion, Land ‘N’ Sea also plans to install charging stations with the help of Ryder and charging partners.

And Servientrega aims to continue its mission to reduce emissions in its truck fleet. The logistics company will be using BrightDrop Zevo 600 vehicles in South Florida to carry packages that will be shipped to locations in South America.
