This is the fastest convertible electric car on the market: the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore

A few months after the GranTurismo Folgore, Maserati presents a new electric car: the GranCabrio Folgore. This electronic convertible promises impressive performance and high-end luxury. Perfect for the French River. Here are all its details.

So the manufacturer is slowly starting its transition towards electricity, as it has raised the curtain in 2022 on its first car of its kind, the GranTurismo Folgore. We were also lucky enough to be able to sit on board, while we waited for the others to be revealed. So the manufacturer has a busy schedule, as it plans to launch no fewer than seven electric vehicles in the coming years. And among them, the new GranCabrio Folgore.

The latter has just been revealed by the Italian manufacturer in a communique published on its website. The latter gives us a lot of information about the convertible version of the GranTurismo, which can compete to some extent with the MG Cyberster.

At the front, of course we find the appearance of the model of the brand’s cars, with its recognizable grille and who plays the famous trident. The hood is ribbed and the sports car hangs big 20 inch front and 21 inch rear rims. Note that the latter can be combined with tires designed to improve freedom.

The car is 4.97 meters long only 1.96 meters wide and 1.37 meters long and has a canvas hood. The latter takes only 14 seconds to recover thanks to the electronic control, even if the car is traveling at a speed of 50 km / h.

On board, the presentation is clearly very advanced and technological, as we get exactly 12.3 inch large touch screen powered by Google Automotive, supported by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The latter is associated with a small 8.8-inch digital panel placed below and a 12.2-inch digital dial.

The head-up display also completes the equipment, while the driving position uses durable materials. The seats are covered in Econylmaterial made of fishing nets recovered from the sea and recycled.

The trunk volume is still small, sinceit weighs just 151 liters with the top closed, and even 114 liters with the top open! Note that four people can sit inside the transformer.

To design in the new GranCabrio FolgoreMaserati has used mainly the technology used in motor sports, and especially in Formula E. Indeed, and as in the GranTurismo Folgore, the battery power is not really high enough at the moment to reach the one announced by the manufacturer. The accumulator has a discharge capacity of 610 kW (830 horse power) in addition, while The car claims 760 horsepower.

GranTurismo, lighter by 80 kg (due to the roof mechanism and reinforcement on the convertible), has a time from 0 to 100 km / h of 2.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 325 km / h.

The high-end power inverter has a large battery under its reflective floor capacity of 92.5 kWh, including 83 kWh usable. It then allows the sports car to show a maximum range of 447 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. Which may not seem like a lot, but there is no doubt that the consumption should be quite high, especially due to the weight shown at 2,340 kg. It is also three kilometers shorter than the GranTurismo.

With an 800-volt architecture like the Kia EV6 and Porsche Taycan, the new Maserati GranCabrio Folgore is rechargeable. from 20 to 80% in just 18 minutes. However, the launch date has not yet been announced, as is the price of this new Maserati GranCabrio Folgore, which will compete with the Tesla Roadster. However, it should be slightly higher than that of the GranTurismo, which starts at 196,950 euros.
