F1. Aston Martin played with Neweya

The British engineer joined Red Bull in 2005 and has since been an integral part of the team, co-creating Sebastian Vettel’s great success at the start of the last decade and Max Verstappen’s current streak.

Lawrence Stroll, on the other hand, remains true to his desire to build Aston Martin into a winning team. Although Newey rejected offers to leave Milton Keynes in the past and signed a new contract with Red Bull last year, it is believed that Stroll senior made him an offer, showing his interest in the engineer and the salary he offered.

Currently, the core of the technical design of Aston Martin includes: Dan Fallows (formerly associated with Red Bull), Tom McCullough, Luca Furbatto and Bob Bell.

When asked by Sky Sports specifically whether Aston Martin had made an offer to Newey, Mike Krack, team principal, replied: – No… We have a very strong technical team with Dan, Tom and Luca. Bob Bell joined us recently.

Aston Martin does not yet have a confirmed squad for next season. The question mark concerns Fernando Alonso, who does not want to make public statements at the moment. He knows that there could be a full-time job at Mercedes or even Red Bull Racing.

However, Aston’s acquisition of Newey would be an attraction for drivers who could expect a solid and competitive car.

Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s consultant, regarding Newey’s rumours, said:

– Newey is an in-demand designer – said Marko in an interview with Motorsport.com. – He is one of those that everyone wants. I don’t think this was his first offer and it probably won’t be his last.

– Losing Newey will always be a loss because it means another team will get him. He would take with him incredible knowledge and experience. He is a cult figure, which is important for young engineers. They come to the team because they want to work with Newey. Overall, having Adrian is a big plus.
