Szymon Wozniak: Getting the best out of Hancock / Speedway GP

On the sports side, Szymon Wozniak fulfilled his Speedway Grand Prix dream with third place in the Challenge. Pole got popular support for his first season in 2024.

Three race wins and a total of twelve points were enough for Szymon Wozniak to secure third place at the Challenge in Gislaved, Sweden last August and thus at the 2024 Grand Prix. “I was very happy when I qualified and was able to fulfill one of my biggest dreams, ” said Sorry. “After a few days I started thinking about how I need to prepare and how I should do it. Greg was one of my biggest thoughts.”

When Wozniak talks about Greg, he means Greg Hancock, who will be by his side in 2024. “I’m ready to learn from the champion,” smiled Szymon. “I think I can learn a lot from Greg because he is a four-time world champion.”

To be able to work hard with Hancock, GP Rookie even traveled to America during the winter. “We spent a good time in California at the end of January, Greg is accompanying me for the first races and practice sessions in Europe and he will be there at the Grand Prix,” explained the 30-year-old. “We worked on a lot of things, it’s hard to say what we haven’t worked on. Greg knows a lot about bikes and physical things. These are not fundamental changes, but there are many small things that make me feel better when riding a bike. It’s not about reinventing myself, but about getting the best out of me.”

In the previous race in the Polish league, Wozniak, who has only participated in the Grand Prix three times as a wild card driver, was able to claim three race wins on the first day. In the race in Lublin last weekend he could not reach the top result with only seven points from five races and he will have to improve in the first GP in Gorican on Saturday evening. Of course, he relies on Hancock’s knowledge: “There are a lot of little things from Greg that can help me on the track and in the pits.”
