In this updated Skoda Karoq you sit on plastic bottles

You can no longer present yourself publicly as a car manufacturer if you haven’t included at least a few recycled plastic bottles in your interior. And so Skoda also tacks. In the updated Skoda Karoq you sit on coke bottles, which you always hand over gracefully at Albert Heijn. Now we have to wait for recycled fishing nets…

We always feel like ‘stop the presses!’ but the facelifted Skoda Karoq isn’t exciting enough for that. The SUV below the Kodiaq and above the Kamiq is selling quite well, but we can’t remember the last time we saw it. We might come across a Karoq every day, but we think it’s either a Seat or a Volkswagen. After all, its structure is not the most different.

LED lighting now standard on the Skoda Karoq

And it’s no different after a facelift. Skoda has made the grille slightly larger and the headlights have a ‘playful’ head. LED lighting is now always common. Matrix LED is optional. Additionally, the rear of the Karoq has been slightly redesigned, apparently with a new rear spoiler. The light alloy wheels that this orange Karoq sits on are very cool, but they are reserved for the top version.

Eco package with vegan materials and plastic bottles

A major improvement in the interior is the addition of a standard digital clock (8 inch). For the full moon – the 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit display – you’ll still have to pay extra. Additionally, Skoda has upgraded the infotainment system to the latest version and it is now possible to order the Eco package. Then you get seat covers from recycled plastic bottles and vegan materials instead of leather.

Still two engines: 1.0 TSI or 1.5 TSI

Motorically everything remains the same. And that means that in the Netherlands you can choose from 1.0 TSI with 110 hp / 200 Nm and 1.5 TSI with 150 hp / 250 Nm. The first is available only with a six-speed manual transmission. If you choose the 1.5 TSI, you can also opt for a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. The market introduction of the updated Skoda Karoq is planned for next year. That sounds far, but that’s still 32 nights of sleep.
