Traveling in nature behind the wheel of a 4×4 carrying a “chalet behind it” and without emitting particles of pollution, this will surely please fans of the “chalet” philosophy. without telling them “. Thanks to EarthCruiser, which has developed a new camping module designed specifically for GMC Hummerthis situation will be possible soon.

Last March, EarthCruiser, an RV specialist based in Bend, Oregon, announced an ongoing project to create “the ultimate modular camping for GM’s large electric pickup truck. This new product, the first images of which were released today, will be shown as a world premiere as part of theOverland Expo Mountain West which will be held in Loveland, Colorado, August 25-27.

This module that fits inside the body and covers the upper body of the electric car is made of carbon fiber to reduce its weight. It would be illogical, of course, for this module for the inappropriate weight of an electric car whose empty weight already reaches 4.3 t. However, since EarthCruiser has not specified the mass of its module, we do not know how many kilometers it will cut from the 527 kilometers of autonomy that GM promises for this pickup truck.

Designed for two campers

In any case, two people will be able to take this module comfortably, after raising its rigid roof vertically. It is 551cm (217in) long and its roof rises to 297cm (117in) high. Its two occupants then have a free height that varies from 193 to 203 cm (76 to 80 in.) in its upper part, while it is equal to (35 in.) above the passenger compartment, where we find a large bed. However, with the roof down, the vehicle’s length peaks at 90 inches (229 cm), just 8.4 cm longer than a standard Hummer pickup truck.

This module, generously screened on its four sides, has an interior equipped to improve comfort wherever you are. There is a communal kitchen, outdoor shower, 12 volt water heater, toilet, water tank (5 gal) and gray water tank (7 gal), not to mention plenty of storage space.

A 12 V lithium battery is also included as standard. With a capacity of 6 kWh, it is powered by 605 W solar collectors that mount on top of the hard roof and should provide enough electricity to power energy-intensive appliances such as a fridge-freezer for a week.

It remains to be seen how much this camping module will cost. EarthCruiser will of course disclose this information during the unveiling.
