Many fans of the brand had widened their eyes when Mazda presented the CX-60, a 4.75 meter long crossover and thus the new top model in Europe, almost two years ago. Now the Japanese are upping the ante – in particular 25 centimeters in length and wheelbase and 2.4 cm long. CX-80 is the name of a new, powerful brand, which is based on the same platform called “Skyactive Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture” for vehicles with long-term fixed drives. At the base price 55.350 Euros (Exclusive) is 4500 euros more expensive than its smaller sister model.

There are two drives in the CX-80 range, both familiar from the younger sister model and each. all wheels and Eight-speed automatic as a standard. The plug-in hybrid combines a 2.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 141 kW/192 hp and an electric motor with 129 kW/175 hp to provide a system output of 241 kW/327 PS. However, the electric range of the plug-in, which weighs more than 2.2 tons, has not been renewed for 60 kilometers.

The second sum is 3,3-Liter-Diesel. The six-cylinder, engine developed by Mazda specifically for the large model series, is supported by a 48-volt hybrid system and has an output of 187 kW/254 PS with a typical consumption of 5.7 liters per 100 km. Unlike the CX-60, the same engine with output reduced to 147 kW/200 hp and rear-wheel drive will not be used in the CX-80, at least initially. The price has not yet been set, but estimates suggest that the diesel will be available for around 59,000 euros.

Compared to the CX-60, the extra space is primarily beneficial in the back. The CX-80 always goes with you three rows of seats in a 2-3-2 arrangement before. If you choose one of the five highest equipment levels, Homura or Homura Plus, you can exchange the three-seat center bench for two comfortable individual seats at no extra charge. The storage space in the new one is also reduced, at least The top model is 4.95 meters tall even more generous. If all three rows of seats are installed, the trunk volume is an average of only 285 liters, including the room on the loading floor.

However, if you lower the third-row seats, a large space is created with 687 liters of storage space. If the second row of seats is also locked down, it will stand 1221 liters of trunk volume available when loading up to the height of the windows. If you load the CX-80 up to the roof, the volume increases significantly 1971 liters compared to the CX-60, an increase of about 250 liters. In addition, the second row of seats can be moved up to twelve centimeters and the back angle can be adjusted differently from 15 to 33 degrees. The back parts can be folded down by pressing button.
