The strategic importance of pick-ups in terms of units sold not only in the United States, but in general in international markets must also convince the giant Chinese company BYD to create its first model with a body: the Shark which premiered at the Beijing Motor Show. . The styling is in line with the industry’s cars: it has a full-length LED headlight front with a Ford Ranger-like folding signature.

The BYD pick-up is equipped under the hood with the DMI plug-in hybrid engine similar to the Seal U SUV that combines a 106 hp gasoline engine with a 194 hp electric motor for an 18.3 kWh battery. It is not yet confirmed if the Shark will be released in an electric version. Finally, in the passenger compartment, the BYD pick-up should offer the same 15.6-inch infotainment already seen on the Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal that can be rotated to display it vertically and horizontally. More technical information and the timing of the launch in international markets will be revealed on the opening day of the Beijing Motor Show where BYD is expected to unveil a new aesthetic direction intended for all its models.
