Mazda, agreement with Panasonic for battery supply

Mazda chose Panasonic batteries for its future electric vehicles. In late June 2023, the Japanese automaker announced that it had begun talks with a battery maker about a potential supply agreement. Moreover, considering the development of the BEV market, all manufacturers are working to have a sufficient supply of accumulators.

Now, the two companies have announced that they have reach an agreement. Panasonic, therefore, becomes a very important partner of Mazda and will go remove its batteries and cylindrical cells.

No additional information was provided by the two companies regarding the contents of the signed agreement. Indeed, the press release is very typical and recalls that of the agreement between Subaru and Panasonic.

Through this agreement, both companies confirm their commitment to address various social challenges, such as reducing global warming, promoting sustainable growth in the automotive and battery industry, supporting local employment and promoting talent development.

Mazda and Panasonic only added that details about this partnership will be presented in due course. This means you’ll have to be patient to find out important information such as the specifications of the cylinder cells that Panasonic will supply to the Japanese automaker and the supply rate. So, what remains is to wait to know more.
