What? when will the 2025 Acura MDX come out?

The 2025 Acura MDX release date is set for this coming May when the first models will arrive for sale in the USA.

2025 Acura MDX Price and Competition

Despite giving us a lot of information about the new Acura MDX SUV, the automaker has not revealed its cost. Along with significant improvements to onboard tech features and styling, we expect an increase in the current model’s MSRP. For 2024, you’ll pay $50,150 for the entry-level trim and $68,450 for the Type S before options. Pricing for the 2025 Acura MDX can start at $53k on the low end and top out at $70k.

When it comes to rivals for the Acura MDX, the Genesis GV80 and Infiniti QX60 are good contenders, along with the Volvo XC90 and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. The GV80 also gets a facelift for 2025, and while it may be more powerful at the lower end of the range, it’s also more expensive. Volvo’s XC90 remains a great alternative from a luxury and cabin standpoint, but it lacks athleticism in many ways. Competitors from the Mercedes garage are more expensive but offer better performance, and, in our opinion, the MDX is one above the Infiniti.

New Acura MDX Color and Paint

The exterior changes of the new Acura MDX are subtle; although the automaker says it’s a more aggressive front end, it’s still the same look we know and love. There is a new diamond pentagon grille with an internal mesh design inside. This side is surrounded by darker lights, and darker taillights bring the rear. The signature four JewelEye LED headlights and Chicane DRLs are still recognizable.

In the wheel arches, there are redesigned 20-inch wheels, while the Type S gets special 21-inch Berlina Black wheels. The latter also gets a unique rear diffuser, large quad exhausts, and red brake calipers to set it apart. The S-Type Grille also features an open-face mesh grille, which works for more airflow into the engine. The MDX A-Spec gets an exterior treatment to help it look sportier.

As for exterior colors, the 2025 Acura MDX has new additions across the board: Canyon River Blue Metallic and Urban Gray are now available on lower-level models while the S-Type can be had in Urban Gray Pearl.

The dimensions of the 2025 Acura MDX are no different from the previous model year, although we expect the curb weight figures to be slightly different due to the inclusion of more technology. 2024 models tipped the scales at between 4,271 pounds and 4,788 pounds, with the heaviest versions being the fully equipped models with AWD. Some important parameters look like this:

Acura MDX Engine and Performance

There are no changes to the engines in the 2025 MDX lineup. The two six-cylinder options are tuned between 290 and 355 hp, depending on the model, which should mean the performance specs also carry over. We expect the MDX with the base 3.5-liter V6 engine to reach 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, while the Type S should deliver the 0-60 sprint a full second faster. Top speed is 112 mph.

Acura says the new MDX is the best-performing MDX yet, with a twin-scroll turbocharger, sport-tuned 10-speed automatic, Brembo brakes, and a Sport+ drive mode exclusive to the Type S. Although front-wheel drive remains standard on the low settings, the brand’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive is the standard setup in the S Type, and true electrification is included – the system leans back to send up to 70% of torque to the rear end, and up. up to 100% for the outside rear wheel when needed.

The S-Type also comes with air suspension and adaptive dampers to help make it more athletic. Our review of the outgoing Type S blew us away, and it’s likely to get even better over time. Since the same engines do duty, we can safely assume towing capacity will also carry over into 2025, which for FWD vehicles adds 3,500 pounds to the weight, and 5,000 pounds for those with AWD.

Gas mileage

Nothing has changed in terms of the engine lineup for the 2025 Acura MDX range, so the gas mileage figures should carry over. EPA ratings for base MDX vehicles with FWD come in at 19/26/22 mpg on combined city/highway cycles and 19/25/21 mpg for those with AWD. The Type S fares worse thanks to its turbocharged powertrain and standard AWD, getting just 17/21/19 mpg.

A range of at least 350 miles is expected with the 18.5-litre fuel tank filled to capacity, although the least efficient models will go for around 405 miles.

Acura MDX Interior and Cargo

The interior of the 2025 Acura MDX is said to receive a “complete overhaul,” but to our eyes, it’s not that significant. This is not necessarily a bad thing as it is not a bad wardrobe to begin with. Still, the new models come with a new 12.3-inch touchscreen, upgraded audio systems across the range, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Google built-in. The center console has also been redesigned for greater ease of use and has USB-C ports on the inside and back. There are more storage options in the cabin, and standard wireless charging is more available than ever.

At the top of the range, the Type S comes standard with the Advance Package, which adds a more powerful sound system, courtesy of Bang & Olufsen, which has 31 speakers. Other standard features at this level include a head-up display, 16-way front seats with massage, heated second-row seats, and more. The seats in the top-of-the-line Acura MDX are upholstered in Milano leather that can also be optioned for lower trim, and – thanks to the redesign – feature Ultrasuede upholstery and embossed logos.

The updates include the addition of a long-range millimeter wave radar behind the Acura logo on the nose of the car, an updated front camera above the windshield, new millimeter wave radars on all four corners, and a new steering wheel . wheel sensor. The system is standard on the S Type with the Advance Package and includes, among others:

  • Collision mitigation using traffic congestion sensing and advanced pedestrian detection
