Domi Aegerter (7th) fought in the middle of the field / Superbike World Championship

Two-time Supersport champion Dominique Aegerter had a mixed weekend with the Giansanti Racing Team in Assen. He showed a good performance in the second major race of the Superbike World Championship.

In the third event of the World Superbike Championship this season, the Swiss Dominique Aegerter managed to partially achieve his goals. Difficult weather conditions and 19th place were not good for him. In the second competition he came seventh and even saw the final winner Toprak Razgatlioglu (BMW).

Aegerter, who has been racing for GRT Yamaha since last season, wanted to collect more points. On Saturday he managed only three, on Sunday he missed the top 9 in the race, which defines the first three rows of the second main race.

“With ten laps it’s almost impossible to make it, considering where I started. “I had to start from 19th place again in the second race,” Aegerter said angrily.

“In the afternoon I drove hard and I was able to create a lot of space. My start was good because, unlike starting from the second row, you can pass a lot of drivers from the start from the seventh row. That encouraged me and I really pushed myself in the first few laps.”

He was in the top 10 for the first time on lap 10, at which point it started to rain briefly. “The drops scared me a bit. “But I was able to keep up with the front groups and I finished seventh, just five seconds behind the winner,” said the tenth-placed World Championship, pleased with a good performance in the second race.

Aegerter had words of praise for teammate Remy Gardner, who achieved his first World Superbike Championship podium and finished third behind Razgatlioglu and Bautista: “I would like to congratulate him. He was strong all weekend. This is due to the efforts of the entire team.”

The next SBK race weekend will not take place for another two months. Until then, GRT Yamaha will complete two tests in Cremona and Misano in May.
