New electric models from Dodge and Ram to see first in Montreal

The Montreal Electric Vehicle Show (SVEM) is fast approaching. From April 19 to 21 at the Olympic Stadium, visitors will discover more than 60 models representing 23 car brands, not counting the approximately 80 cars available for testing.

Among the new products that will attract the most attention, two from the Stellantis group will be seen for the first time at the show in Quebec. We deliver to you!

Dodge Charger 2024

After its big reveal on March 5, the production version of the new Dodge Charger will arrive at SVEM. Very similar to the Daytona SRT Charger concept that made the cover Car Guide 2024the car comes in a two-door design and carries many features from the 1968 model.

Stellantis has planned both electric and petrol variants. In the first case, the 100.5 kW battery has the power of two electric motors. The Charger Daytona R/T (496 hp, 404 lb-ft) can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and has an estimated range of 310 miles, while the Charger Daytona Scat Pack (670 hp, 627 lb-ft) completes . the same sprint in just 3.3 seconds and will be able to travel up to 418 km.

The maximum charging power reaches 183 kW and it will take 32.5 minutes using the fast charging station to go from 5 to 80%, according to the manufacturer.

To satisfy performance and tech enthusiasts, the car includes powerful Brembo brakes, adjustable suspension, large tires (305/35ZR20 XL front and 325/35ZR20 rear) as well as a Track Kit that adds a range of recording equipment. performances on the track. Also don’t miss the PowerShot button on the steering wheel that increases the power to 40 horsepower in 15 seconds.

As with the famous Fratzonic exhaust system, it uses two imitation radiators to mimic the sound of a combustion engine. The decibel level may be as high as that of a V8 Hellcat, but fear not: stealth mode is also included so you don’t disturb the neighborhood.

Production of the two-door electric models will begin this summer at the Windsor, Ontario assembly plant. A four-door Charger will follow in early 2025.

Ram 1500 Ramcharger 2025

In addition to the all-electric Ram 1500 REV, the new 2025 Ram lineup includes a second electric model that diverges from its combustion engine as a range-extending generator.

Indeed, the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger uses two electric motors with a total of 663 horsepower and draws their energy from a 92 kWh battery. Before running out of power, it can be recharged by a 3.6-liter V6 specially tuned for this application. There’s no mechanical connection between this engine and the wheels, so the Ramcharger isn’t a plug-in hybrid strictly speaking even though it burns gasoline.

The company promises a total distance of 1,110 km. Plugging the truck into a DC fast charger is therefore optional, but those who do can expect to generate up to 145 kW, enough to restore a range of 80 km in 10 minutes, according to Ram.

In addition, be aware that the stored energy can be used not only to move the truck, but also to restore another vehicle or strengthen the house in the event of a breakdown, for example, through a two-way payment system. The electric panel in the body provides up to 7.2 kW of power.

There’s also talk of acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in just 4.4 seconds, a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds, tops in the category, and a payload in the body of 2,625 pounds. Interested?

The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger should go on sale in Canada early next year — offering several trims ranging from Tradesman to Tungsten to Big Horn to Limited — and we’re betting demand will be strong.
