Kia at Milan Design Week under the name Opposites United – Mondo Motori


For the second year in a row, Kia returns to host rivals United during Milan Design Week. Until the 21st of April in the setting of the Permanete Museum, via Turati 34, entitled ‘Intersections Beyond Borders’, the event will be characterized by a continuous dialogue between installations, exhibitions and talks.
Throughout the duration of the event, the public will have the opportunity to connect with the installations of Anna Galtarossa, Riccardo Benassi, Sissel Toolas and LedPulse. Each work is designed and produced specifically for the event within a thematic framework that explores the relationship between the individual and the collective, the human and the digital.
The LedPulse installation will then act as a platform to host daily performances by artists such as Percussionisti della Scala, Maya Shenfeld, CTM, XEXA and Jim C.
Nedd with Hansel Castro and Carlos Russo. In addition, each day there will be talks aimed at exploring different areas of debate and discipline, including art, design, nature, technology and music, organized by renowned curators and researchers.
Among them, also philosopher Emanuele Coccia, art curator Andrea Lissoni and design curator Marco Sammicheli, anthropologist and writer Andrea Staid and music curator Sarah Miles. Each of the managers will lead a conversation between two speakers invited from many different countries and international, accompanied by Carlo Antonelli and Kia’s Senior Vice President and Head of International Design, Karim A. Habib.
Each talk will be followed, every day, by live music performances by selected artists from the international scene, ranging from different cultural and musical groups, such as Moonchild Sannelly’s Ghetto Future Funk and the techno-infused pop music of Jass, and as well. the reference to London’s Caribbean heritage by Sherelle + Flowdan or the cello playing of Oliver Coates.
