2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, First Drive, Review | Road tests

• Auto123 conducts the first test of the 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, the most powerful – and insane – Porsche in history.

Monteblanco, Spain – The word fast begins to describe the new Taycan. We’re talking about madness to put into perspective what the Turbo GT version represents. Numbers alone don’t tell the whole story, however impressive they may be. The Taycan Turbo GT is not only the most powerful Porsche in history, but also the most insane and quiet.

With this latest version, Porsche has made an effort to reduce weight. Carbon fibers cover the B-pillars, mirrors and side skirts. Porsche has somehow reduced the weight of the luggage compartment, offered soft-closing doors and an electric charging port, and even ditched the analog clock that comes with the Sport Chrono package.

On the Weissach version, you benefit from a spoiler made of carbon fiber. Carbon ceramic brakes, accompanied by 21-inch forged rims, provide weight reduction compared to those fitted to the Turbo S model. In addition, these rims are shod with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, selected specifically for this version.

Interior of the 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT

The interior favors Race-tex leather and, for the first time, it is possible to opt for carbon fiber bucket seats in the Taycan, available only in Europe. However, due to specific crash test standards, these carbon fiber bucket seats are not offered in North America.

The Turbo GT here is equipped with Porsche’s Adaptive Sports Seats Plus with the option of 18-way adjustment with memory. The Turbo GT logo is stamped on the headers, naturally. The Weissach version also removes the rear seats to save a few more pounds.

Technology and security
Technologically, it is quite similar to other versions with a few weight saving options. You are shown a curved 16.8-inch screen for gauges, two touchscreens in the middle control the infotainment system.

The upper screen is integrated into the dashboard and has a size of 10.9 inches. There are no passenger entertainment screens behind the front seats and no passenger screen either.

Porsche Taycan Turbo GT 2025 configuration

The Turbo GT is the most powerful Taycan Porsche has ever produced. Accelerating in 10 seconds, output increases from 777 horsepower and 988 lb-ft of torque, or up to 1,019 horsepower with the new Attack Mode feature and 1,092 lb-ft of torque.

Attack Mode provides extra power in 10-second bursts derived from Formula E. But while push-to-pass only adds an extra 93 horsepower to other models, Attack Mode sends up to 160 horsepower to all four wheels. You can easily turn it on by pulling the right paddle. So you can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.2 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 6.4 seconds.

It is thanks to these features that the Weissach Turbo GT Edition lapped Laguna Seca in 1:27.87 – faster than any other electric car before it. And at the beginning of January, a development prototype lapped the Nürburgring in 7:07.55 – faster than any other EV or sedan, petrol or electric.

The secret of this newfound speed is a pulse converter that uses silicon carbide to send up to 900 amps to the rear engine instead of just 600 amps on the Turbo S model, paired with a new rear axle engine (available on the updated Taycan range) . It offers more power and efficiency in a lighter package. It’s about 20 pounds lighter than the outgoing rear-engine, and the entire Turbo GT is up to 157 pounds lighter than the Turbo S (with the Weissach package).

Battery and recharge
The Taycan 2025 can be charged at 800 volt DC charging stations with a maximum power of 320 kW under ideal conditions. This is 50 kW more than before. The fast charging window of the new performance battery has been significantly extended.

In addition, a 150 kW DC/DC converter is now included as standard, to increase the charging speed on 400 volt networks. Depending on the driving style, among other parameters, this can reduce the time it takes from charging by 10 percent up to 80 compared to the previous car.

In the first generation Taycan, the charging time between 10 and 80 percent of SOC at 15 degrees Celsius is 37 minutes. In good conditions, the new Taycan takes only 18 minutes, despite the large battery capacity.

The declared range for Europe is 555 km. Official figures for Canada have not yet been released.

Porsche Taycan Turbo GT 2025 Drive

Our driving experience took place at the Monteblanco circuit, Spain. To explore the power range of the model, apart from the road with no speed limit, this is the only place for this car.

We were skeptical that a 2.2-ton car would be suitable as a “race car”. At the end of the day we were converted.

The power is amazing, but even more amazing is how easy this beast is to drive. Our first contact took place in the rain on a wet circuit where we pushed through the pit straight at 250 km/h before hitting the brakes in the first corner while under control.

This operating superiority is due to the unique mastery of all operating systems. In addition to the air suspension, Porsche adds as standard to the Turbo GT, the Active Ride system which, together with the air springs and the damping system, controls all body movements when passing.

Rather than being simple telescopic tubes that resist expansion or compression, active shock absorbers contain hydraulic oil pumped in under high pressure to control the compression – or rebound – of the suspension as the wheels follow the contours of the road.

No matter the road conditions, the car remains flat. The control system measures the vertical speed of the wheel and body movement, then calculates how much force to apply to each shock absorber and at what time. The reaction time of the system is instantaneous, it reacts 13 times per second (13 hertz) and can keep the vehicle level during a sudden stop or acceleration.

It’s almost magic, this system is so bad.

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Prices

If you choose the Turbo GT or the Weissach Edition, prices start at $270,000. The price corresponds to the technology and power of the model. You’ll have fewer options than other versions, but you should expect to pay around $350,000 for a well-loaded model.

The last word
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is one of the most impressive cars I have driven in over 30 years of driving. However, you will need to have access to the circuit, because on the road, you will have everything you need in the 4S version.

Point the castle

  • – Performance of things
  • – Amazing ride comfort
  • – Very gentle to drive

Weak points

  • – Very high price
  • – Limited use
  • – Not very practical every day
