Theft suspects in a green Dodge Charger Tracy PD

(KRON) – Two burglary suspects attacked a police car as they attempted to flee Monday, according to the Tracy Police Department. Tracy PD received several calls throughout the day Monday about carjackings and burglaries. The suspects involved were reported to be driving a green Dodge Charger.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, a Tracy PD officer spotted a Green Charger matching the description parked at a Motel 6 in the 3800 block of North Tracy Boulevard.

While the officer was checking the Charger and waiting for backup, two people – later identified as Enrique Antunez, 34, and Karris Garcia, 32 – were seen getting into the car. The suspects, who were both from Fremont, tried to leave the parking lot, police said.

The officer tried to take them into custody, but the Charger driver, Antunez, swerved and hit a Tracy PD marked car driven by a uniformed officer. Support units were able to disable the suspect’s vehicle. Both suspects were taken into custody without further incident, police said.

No officers were injured during the incident.

Officers conducted a subsequent search of the vehicle, the suspects and a related motel room, according to the search warrant. Officers found a loaded handgun with the serial number off, multiple items of stolen mail/packages, community mailbox keys, electronic theft devices, identity theft related materials and other stolen property.

All suspects were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail and charged with the following:
