Verstappen impresses Honda: “Great memories”

Max Verstappen achieved his greatest success with one Honda’s power plant in its cars. The Dutch world champion has a good relationship with Honda and the Japanese are proud of it. They have many good memories of the partnership with Verstappen.

Honda was the team’s engine supplier until 2021 Red Bull Racing. Then they stopped doing this, but continued to make power sources for the Austrian racing team, although this is done under a different name. Honda is also associated with Red Bull as a sponsor, so the relationship is still very close. This will end at the end of 2025, because Honda will supply the engine from 2026 Aston Martin.

While Honda are very proud of the success they are having now with Red Bull and Max Verstappen. The Dutchman is very attractive to the Japanese and they don’t hide it. Honda Racing Corporation President Koji Watanabe highlights an important point in a conversation with Motorsport.com: “During Honda’s Thanksgiving Day at the end of 2022, Honda presented him with an NSX as a gift. I had the honor of presenting the gift. He stood in front of Max and I gave him the car as a gift he still remembers that and for me it is a very good memory.
