The popularity of the brand is now giving rise to some creativity. One looks good from behind.
Volkswagen is updating the third generation of the top model Touareg with a comprehensive update: the chassis and the display and driving concept of the luxury SUV have been revised, and the front and rear design has been strengthened. The new HD matrix front lights and LED rear lights designed as a strip of lights are very attractive. These are available for the first time in Germany with a red VW logo highlighted. The pre-sale started on May 25.
The top model is available from around 94,000 euros
The new model will start in the basic version with the original front part (from 69,200 euros) and also in two exclusive versions “Elegance” (from 75,070 euros) and “R-Line” (from 79,660 euros). Placed on top of this is the top model of the model series: the sporty, luxurious Touareg R eHybrid developed by Volkswagen R (from 93,870 euros). Imelda Labbé, Volkswagen Board Member for Sales, Marketing and After Sales, is quoted in the press release as follows: “The new Touareg impresses with high quality and unlimited comfort. We have fulfilled the wishes of our customers repeatedly with this model: we have improved the design, integrated the illuminated rear logo, the operation is more intuitive and also thanks to excellent driving characteristics. Our first Volkswagen has been upgraded again. The result is a true all-rounder that will impress on-road, off-road and of course as a first-class tow vehicle.
It creates a carpet of light especially on the path
Forward-looking technologies always make their debut in the Touareg – a skill that many small car classes will benefit from later. Kai Grünitz, Member of the Management Board for Technical Development at the Volkswagen brandcommented: “For us, the Touareg was always a technological flagship that brought new developments to the brand from top to bottom. This is also the case with the new Touareg. It is the first Volkswagen to debut with the new HD matrix headlights – one of the best lighting systems More than 38,000 interactive LEDs create a carpet of light within the path and lighting the road more accurately than ever before. We will soon transfer HD matrix lighting to the next small SUV class.
Previously, this was only available in China and the USA
According to VW, another advantage of the new optional HD matrix lights is the high beam without glare: This permanent high beam can be used completely outside built-up areas because – thanks to the interactive LEDs – oncoming traffic and cars ahead are blurred more accurately than before. The new luxury class SUV is immediately recognizable by the design of the front and rear sections. At the front, the entire unit including the radiator grille, headlights and front apron has been redesigned. The rear end has also been strengthened: with a continuous LED cross on the taillights and the VW logo, which is illuminated in red for the first time on a Volkswagen model in Germany. Until now, the shiny brand logo was only allowed in markets such as China or the United States, as Volkswagen writes. The Touareg is built at VW’s Slovakian plant in Bratislava.
