With one win so far this season, Ferrari have certainly made a good start to the season. The truth is, however, that Red Bull has the advantage and Ferrari wants to make up part of the gap with Red Bull with major updates during the F1 race at Imola.

According to the Italian ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’, Ferrari wants to introduce a major update during the Emilia-Romagna GP that is close to the B specification of the current car, the SF-24.

Ferrari’s aerodynamics team, led by Diego Tondi, is said to have achieved significant and unexpected performance improvements. Ferrari would adopt the air intake concept from the Red Bull RB20 on the SF-24. It is interesting that the introduction of the concept comes after several new engineers who previously worked at Red Bull have started working at Ferrari and now they can start working at Ferrari after the so-called ‘garden holiday’. Of course they were able to bring knowledge about the concept to Red Bull.

After minor updates in recent races, the update introduced at Imola would be the first major update of the season. Ferrari previously said that they would develop the SF-24 in three main phases. To what extent this major update will contribute to closing the gap with Red Bull, we will only know in Imola.
