Audi, BMW, Mercedes: which brand produces the best sedan?

When it comes to meeting the competition and overpowered models, the Germans are definitely the best. Here are 3 examples of sports sedans: Audi RS7 Performance, BMW M8 Gran Coupé and Mercedes-AMG GT63 S-door 4. To find out which of these high-powered German missiles goes faster, which way better than drag racing? Be careful, the winner is not who you think. Not true!

When you want the biggest foreign cars on the market, you go to Italy. When we want smooth and luxurious cars, we turn to English manufacturers. But when you want ultra sporty sedans, then go to Germany. It must be said that local brands have some expertise in this area, especially 3 of them. Audi offers the RS7 Performance, BMW has the M8 Gran Coupe and Mercedes has the 4-door AMG GT63 S.

Cars that serve as benchmarks in the super-sedan market, with an excellent level of comfort, their razor-sharp design and their top-class performance. Obviously, all this comes at a high price, since The Audi sells for 154,400 euros, compared to 179,100 euros for the BMW and almost 200,000 euros for the Mercedes. Forget your prejudices, let’s kill all doubts, the most expensive is not the fastest, far from it!

Close the technical papers

These three cars have almost identical technical data sheets. The RS7 Performance has a 630 horsepower 4.0 twin-turbo V8, and all-wheel drive. The BMW M8 also has a twin-turbo V8, with a displacement of 4.4 liters, producing 625 horsepower, again transmitted to all 4 wheels. Like the Mercedes, it is equipped with a 4.0 twin-turbo V8 with a power of 640 horsepower, sent to the wheels all 4 again. All 3 are relatively heavy, weighing 2,067 kg, 2,074 kg and 2,045 kg respectively. On paper, the Mercedes is therefore more powerful and lighter.

But numbers are clearly not everything, as he ranks last at the end of all races. In contrast, the RS7 always finished first, closely followed by the BMW M8. In the end, the Audi completes the quarter mile in 11.3 seconds, compared to 11.5 seconds and 11.7 seconds for the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S 4-door. In the opening race, the lead remains the same, with Mercedes finishing further back. The order does not change, even during the braking test, which Audi wins again.
