While the Jeep Avenger, this small city SUV with a length of 4.08 m, was only available in electric form, recently it has also been available in hybrid form. So, it now has the latest 3-cyl equipment. 1.2 turbo-petrol eHybrid already appeared under the hood of Peugeot 308 and 3008, or even Citroen C5 Aircross and Opel Corsa and Astra. This Avenger shares its platform with the Fiat 600, with its Polish manufacturing plant in Trichy.

For this 1.2 eHybrid, Jeep has chosen a 100 hp version, and not 136 hp as with the compact SUVs from the Stellantis group. A choice that may seem a little strong for this Avenger, even if this SUV reduces its weight to 1,363 kg, or 60 kg more than the 1.2 PureTech non-hybrid of 100 hp. Of course, 100 hp and 205 Nm are available, but also 28 hp and 55 Nm from the electric motor installed in the DCS6 gearbox. That is, in the end, the values ​​have not changed compared to the 136 hp version, and it starts in electric mode and progresses to a maximum of 30 km / h over about 1 km. Features that classify this Avenger in the hybrid HEV category, not allowed to use TVS older than 36 months due to CO2 of 111-114 g.

In addition to providing real driving pleasure thanks to the warmth of its responses, this 100hp hybrid surprises by giving the feeling of “you still have something under your feet”. What the 3-cyl lacks. 1.2 turbo-petrol non-hybrid 100 hp (minimum 127 g). More pleasant, more linear in its refinement, this new 1.2 eHybrid also offers real stability and, according to our tests, 6.2 l/100 km on average and 6.6 l on the road – to 4.9 l according to Jeep in the WLTP combination. In the city, the main advantage will be to stay under 6.0 l. That’s great, Avenger is built for that. As long as you don’t choose 17 or 18 wheels and settle for a 16” finish with the Longitude access, already fully equipped for 26,300 euros including taxes. Or 2,000 euros more than 100 hp non-hybrid with manual gearbox. The choice is made quickly!
