New Cadillac EV Performance Concept Sounds Very Electric

Cadillac is in the process of electrifying its lineup, but so far that’s only translated into a lineup of crossovers, SUVs, and one large sedan; A $340,000 Celestiq. That seems to be changing. At least as far as concept cars are concerned.

The American brand is teasing a new concept car called the Opulent Velocity, which appears to be a low-slung sedan or coupe. Here’s everything Cadillac has told us about it: It’s zero-emissions electric, celebrates 20 years of V-Series Cadillacs, and has an exhaust note.

We can only hope that this car is powered by a V8, but I doubt it. Despite the loud noise it makes, this thing is going to be an EV with something that comes with Dodge’s “Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust,” if I had to bet. GM is planning more PHEVs, but there is no indication that the Cadillac brand—which would be GM’s first fully electric vehicle—is part of the plan.

The video above is the best explanation of the concept car, but below I’ve pulled a few of the best photos and included one sent by Cadillac so we can try and get a good look at this thing. Not a crossover, at least.

The only other thing Cadillac said was that we’ll learn more about the car “later this year”, which could mean several months. Either way, as soon as we know more, you’ll be the first to know.
