For Audi A3 facelift Ingolstadt introduced the adventurous Allstreet version, now the updated S3 is also following. And the sports version is not limited to a set of interchangeable lights, a shapeless radiator grille or an updated interior: the drivetrain and chassis have also been completely revised. The engineers at Audi Sport have found a solution for this, so that the new S3 can escape from the shadow of the brutal RS 3 with its powerful five-cylinder.

The new Audi S3 retains its powerful four-cylinder engine, but the 2.0 TFSI is decidedly successful. Power and maximum torque increase to 333 hp and 420 Nm respectively, a gain of 23 horses and 20 newton meters. That extra power ensures that the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h shouldn’t take longer than 4.7 seconds.

The turbo modification makes the engine react more strongly and aggressively, engine characteristics that are further emphasized by the new S-Tronic tuning. The seven-speed robot box with a double clutch ratio changes speed faster than before and uses higher speeds, so that the Audi S3 leaves the starting blocks faster and immediately has all the pulling power.

The famous Torque Splitter that we know from the Audi RS 3 and Volkswagen Golf R is now also making its way to the updated Audi S3. The multi-plate clutch of the Quattro wheel drive then not only distributes the engine torque between the front and rear, but also between the left and right rear wheels. And that translates into faster speeds and more control when cornering.

It really depends on the driving mode you choose: in the new Dynamic Plus game mode, the outer rear wheel receives additional power, so you can make oversteer effects. These slippery numbers are further enhanced by electronic stability control and engine management, which combines high revs with direct throttle response.
