Tesla supercharger station in Sutherlin celebrates grand opening

Tesla’s recently inaugurated Supercharger station in Sutherlin, Oregon, has been lauded as a major boon to the area. Located near the town’s Walmart and Pilot Travel Center, the station is part of the electric automaker’s growing Supercharger network, which is designed to provide convenient charging for Tesla drivers on longer trips.

At the station’s grand opening, Tesla representatives were in attendance to celebrate the occasion and to provide information about the technology. Tesla owner and Sutherlin resident, Brian Jenkins, spoke about the station’s arrival, noting that it “will make the lives of Tesla owners in the Sutherlin area much easier and more convenient.”

The station is located off of Interstate 5 and offers six Supercharger stalls, which are capable of providing up to 150 kW of power per vehicle. This allows Tesla drivers to quickly charge their cars’ batteries and continue with their journeys. According to Tesla, the Supercharger stations are designed to provide up to 80 percent charge in about 30 minutes.

The Sutherlin Supercharger station is the latest installment in a network of more than 1,800 stations across the United States. Tesla has been aggressive in its expansion of the Supercharger network, with plans to open more than 10,000 stations worldwide.

The presence of the Supercharger station in Sutherlin is a welcome sight for the area and continues Tesla’s efforts to make electric car ownership more accessible and convenient.
